• Sometimes admin of the site wants to get notified by email whenever any user submitted form successfully. But don’t know how to get notification email. Have you ever been in such a confusion?

    Well, you are just few steps away!

    There is an Email setting in Forms and List Module.

    Go to your site and get logged in into your site.

    Go to the page where you have placed your form.

    Select edit option and click on Forms and List Configuration link.

    Expand the Email Settings will give you couple of settings to do.

    After expanding email settings, you are given couple of options to configure.

    1. Triggers: In simple words, TRIGGERS decide WHEN to send the mail. There are three options. Select your desired trigger.

    2. To: Give your email address on which you want to receive an email when user submits the form.

    3. CC: If you want to keep your other email address in CC, you can include it in this field.

    4. BCC: If you want to keep your other email address in CC, you can include it in this field.

    5. From: Give your email address which you have entered in To filed.

    Note: Here Email address for From and To field will be the same.

    6. Subject: Write your subject of the notification mail.

    7. Email Message: In Email Message, write your message you want to show your user when they submit form successfully.

    8. On New Text: You can define your message based on the action performed by User. This text will be displayed when any New User submits the form.

    9. On Update Text: You can define your message based on the action performed by User. This text will be displayed when any Existing User updates any data via Form.

    10. On Delete Text: You can define your message based on the action performed by User. This text will be displayed when any Existing User delete their data.

    11. Email Body Creation: This option will define the layout of your notification Email. This filed is responsible for appearance of the notification mail.

    There are two option available to deal with.

    1. Auto
    2. XSL Script.

    1. Auto: If you are okay with the appearance of auto generated email design by DNN, you can keep this option checked.

    2. XSL Script: If you want to personalize appearance of notification mail, you can write your one. If you want to write your own template for Email, please follow the below steps.

    First of all, you need is to select XSL script option below the Email Body Creation option. When you choose XSL Script, you will see another set of option.

    Again there are two options available. Look at the below image. 

    1. Generate New:
    You can generate brand new template by simply clicking on generate new Link.

    2. Upload:
    You can upload your existing XSL Script for email template.
    Once you are done with all the settings, Click on the Save Configuration and Return Button!

    Now It’s time to configure SMTP Server for sending mail.

    Question may arise: “What is SMTP?

    Well, SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. SMTP is the standard protocol for email services. SMTP provides the ability to send and receive email messages.

    Let’s setup our SMTP:

    1. Go to Settings and click on Servers.

    By clicking on servers it will drive you a following page:

    Here is the Field Description of SMTP Server Mode:

    1. SMTP Server and Ports:
    he SMTP server and port to use for sending emails.
    Ex: smtp.example.com:587

    2. Connection Unit:
    Connection unit defines the maximum number of concurrent connections with the SMTP server.

    3. Max Idle Time:
    The maximum number of milliseconds that a connection is allowed to be idle before it is closed.

    4. Number of Messages Sent in Each Batch:
    The number of messages sent by the messaging scheduler in each batch.

    Here is the Field Description of SMTP Server Mode:

    1. SMTP Username, SMTP Password:
    The SMTP username and the SMTP password of the account used to send email messages.

    2. SMTP Enable SSL:
    This is an Optional field. If enabled (On), a secure connection is used when communicating with the SMTP server.

    3. Host Email:
    Enter email on which you want to send/receive email.

    Test SMTP Settings:

    This button is available to confirm that you can connect to the SMTP server with the current settings. This is an optional field.

    Once all configuration is done by you, now it is time to save configuration.
